Carl Hurlen

Mike Duffy recently came across these splendid Carl Hurlen frame transfers, and wondered wether we had any information on them. On consulting with Bill Soens, we can confirm that Carl was Aussie Hurlen's elder brother and that they ran two separate business's. Carl Hurlen's shop had closed down by the mid 1950's.

So thank you to Mike and Bill for the scans and information.

Has anyone got any photo's of a Carl or Aussie Hurlen bicycle, if so we'd love to see them on the blog.
As always you can contact us at  merseysidebicycles@gmail.com

  1. Does anyone have any images of Aussie Hurlen's bicycle decals.
I have a circa 1950's Aussie frame in my workshop for repaint restoration. (#CycleColor_Perth, www.cyclecolor.net) The owner has provided me with a Sepia photo taken circa late 50's and I can just make out the Down Tube block artwork. Am in dialog with the owner if he recalls if the lettering had tails or was solid block lettering. Unfortunately I have no images of the Head Tube or Seat Tube artwork. What this old photo does show is that Aussie paint work featured ST bands similar to the 50's Legnano's. Perhaps Legnano copied Aussie :)
Would appreciate all and any feedback. cyclecolor@westnet.com.au
